Summer Sangria

Nothing says summer like hanging out on the deck or at the pool sipping sangria with friends.  My favorite recipe is a lighter version of the traditional ruby sangria because it’s made with white wine rather than red.  I serve it in a clear beverage jar so I can load it up with lots of colorful fruit like lemons, limes and oranges.  It looks as good as it tastes.

Cheers to summer!sangria 1

Summer Sangria

1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. triple sec (or other orange liqueur)
1/2 c. brandy
2 (750 ml) bottles dry white wine
1 (750 ml) bottle club soda, chilled
1 c. lemon, thinly sliced
1 c. lime, thinly sliced
1 c. orange, thinly sliced
*you can also add kiwi, strawberries and grapes – almost any fruit works!

In a large chilled pitcher, combine sugar, orange liqueur, brandy and white wine. Cover and refrigerate for 2 1/2 hours. When ready to serve, slowly stir in club soda to taste. Add all fruit and some ice.  Pour a glass and ENJOY!

Weekend Bits – Links I Love

Good morning!  My weekend was so packed with fun stuff that I’m a day behind in sending out my favorite links of the week.  So without further ado…

I was a huge fan of the shelter magazine, Domino, before it stopped being published in 2009.  If you’re not familiar with the name, it’s a magazine for people who enjoy the never ending search for items and inspiration for their home.  And this past week, they announced they’re back.  I can’t tell you how happy this makes me!  In addition to quarterly print publications, it will also be an e-shop where you can source and buy everything you see in the pages directly from their site or app.  Click here to check it out.

If you’re not into pumpkin guts or don’t like dealing with the mess, Evite has some fun and creative no carve ideas for you.

I’m kind of obsessed with this wing back chair in polka dot fabric.  If only I had a spot for it!

Before you head out to shop, you need to run down Shopbop’s top 10 fall essentials checklist.

An apple pie cocktail with cinnamon meringue?  I haven’t tried it yet but it sure looks tasty.  Design Sponge shares the recipe here.

If you’re looking for a laugh this morning, take a look at The 44 Best Pictures of the Nightmare Fear Factory haunted house.

Want to add some quick and easy Halloween creepiness to your home?  I share some of my go to items here.
