Weekend Bits – Links I Love

It’s the middle of February; that dreaded no man’s land between the holidays and spring when the winter doldrums can begin to creep in.  So I’m dedicating this week’s links to beating the blues.

I’ve become a little obsessed lately with Scandinavian culture.  If you remember the Scandinavian themed summer party I styled, I used the word ‘Hygge’ as my inspiration, which essentially means enjoying the simple pleasures of life.  The Scandinavian countries endure winters that are long and dark but somehow their population rate as some of the happiest in the world.  Maybe their secret is in how they decorate their homes.  Here are 10 Scandinavian design lessons worth trying.

Facebook recently surprised us all with their look back movies.  Each user had a customized montage set to music of photos shared on Facebook throughout the years.  Watching everyone’s “photo movies” put me in a great mood and reminded me how much I love just looking at photos.  The winter months are a good time to catch up on your photo albums.  Mixbook.com is a highly rated site (new to me) for online memory books and I found their blog helpful for getting started.  And they promise you can finish a book in just a few hours.

Planning a trip can raise your spirits almost as quickly as actually taking one.  Browse this list of the best travel apps and sites to plan your next get away.

I love this next link about mood boosting foods.  It’s short and sweet and includes chocolate and peanut butter so it makes my list 🙂

When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping.  Nothing cheers a girl up faster than retail therapy and I’m enabling you with this article from Time magazine.  If Time says shopping is good for you, I say we go for it!

And if that wasn’t enough to convince you, surely a good sale will!  Here’s a round up of President’s Day sales and coupon codes.

Finally, my favorite pin of the week is a snow cream cocktail.  If you can’t beat the snow, drink it.
