Fall Bucket List

Fall is hands down my favorite season.  I love the colors, the cooler temperatures and most of all, the fun activities that everyone associates with the season.  Maybe because I look forward to it so much, it always seems to fly by me in a blur.  This time I’ve created a list to remind myself of all the great things I want to do with family and friends before old man winter starts knocking at the door.pumpkin patch

The season wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the pumpkin patch.  It’s getting more difficult to get my kids to go with me but a little arm twisting never hurt anybody.  Besides, how else are we going to find the perfect jack-o-lantern?hayride

One of my favorite childhood memories is going on a haunted hayride.  Friends of my parents owned some land and set up creepy vignettes to scare us along the way.  It doesn’t necessarily have to be haunted, but we will definitely go on a hayride this year.

Making caramel apples is almost as much fun as eating them.  This is a must.  It’s the perfect fall treat!

We use our fire pit quite a bit but there’s nothing like a real bonfire on a chilly evening.  Making s’mores and drinking hot chocolate, or better yet, hot buttered rum would make for a perfect fall party.

Jumping in leaf piles, roasting pumpkin seeds, tailgating and making a big pot of chili also made my list.  What are some of your favorite things to do in the fall?

  1. A great fall hayride is at Shawnee Mission Park. The fall leaves are beautiful and you are guaranteed to see a deer or two. You can schedule a hayride and they provide a bonfire and apple cider after the ride. We bring hot dogs and items to make s’mores to roast over the fire.
